My Simple Prayer in a Song

DAY BY DAY — from the Movie/Musical Godspell(Wiki)

Day by day
Day by day
Oh Dear Lord
Three things I pray
To see thee more clearly
Love thee more dearly
Follow thee more nearly
Day by day

[CHORUS]
Oh…

Day by day
Day by day
Oh Dear Lord
Three things I pray
To see thee more clearly
Love thee more dearly
Follow thee more nearly
Day by day

(repeat chorus 5 times)

Smile by Charlie Chaplin

Sinasabi sa kanta na ito na…Smile and maybe tomorrow…You’ll find that life is still worthwhile…If you just smile.

Lyrics:

Smile though your heart is aching
Smile even though its breaking
When there are clouds in the sky, you’ll get by
If you smile with your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile

If you just
Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
That’s the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what’s the use of crying?
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile

If you just
Smile though your heart is aching
Smile even though its breaking
When there are clouds in the sky, you’ll get by
If you smile through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile

that’s the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what’s the use of crying?
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile

Smile” – Chaplin composed the music, while the words were written by John Turner and Geoffrey Parsons.  (from Wikipedia)

“A day without a laugh is a wasted day.” – Charles Chaplin

Brother Sun, Sister Moon – A 1973 Movie

Bigla kong  naalala itong movie na base sa buhay ni  St Francis of Assisi at St. Clare nung nabasa ko yung post ni Miss Nortehanon  na “I’m Jealous of the Wind” and she wrote:

I will climb toward Brother Sun to greet him, and chat with Sister Moon from dusk till dawn.

St. Francis: “Is it not possible, Holy Father, to live according to the teachings of our Lord? Or have we sinned through presumption? If that be the case, then we would like your Holiness to tell us of our errors.”

The Pope replies: “My dearest son, errors will be forgiven. In our obsession with original sin we too often forget original innocence. Don’t let that happen to you. … We are encrusted with riches and power. You in your poverty put us to shame.”

Matthew 6:19-21

19“Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. 20Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. 21Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.
Matthew 6:24-33
24“No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
25“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? 26Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? 27Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?
28“And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, 29yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. 30And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?
31“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
Matthew 19:29

And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or property, for my sake, will receive a hundred times as much in return and will inherit eternal life.
